Looking north, the sky was an ominous yellow.

Although I wasn't scheduled to work this week at all, I got a call on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning I tramped into school. From the balconies, we could see the almost deserted snowbound streets.

On most of the streets, it was safer to walk in the road than on the pavement.

Thursday: glorious sunshine, biting wind. And ice - lots of it. Bruised teachers, absent students, a festive spirit among those who made it to work. And a glass of beer at The Hole in the Wall on the way home...

Finally, Friday came, I said goodbye to my students, and took one last picture of the sunset. We're promised more snow over the weekend. Although it's nothing compared to the north of the country, this is something quite out of the ordinary for soft southern seasiders like me!

Wow, real snow! Hope you're enjoying it. In Berlin there's still plenty so I'm trying not to break anything, while still trying to get out for long walks. Thanks for keeping us posted. Frau Schultze told me about your card btw and was really thrilled to receive it.
